Online Data from Osmose is a secure, web-based reporting and mapping solution that allows utility personnel to access their pole inspection, maintenance and survey information anytime and anywhere they have a connection to the Internet. Online Data was launched in 2008 to help facilitate documentation and follow-up work related to a utility's inspection and maintenance programs. Geospatial views, accessible through a standard web browser, allow multiple users to access inspection or survey information together with the locations of structures and other assets, relative to each other and to geographic features and boundaries.

Osmose updates your project data behind the scenes and deploys the application as a 24/7 web-service for any utility user with a valid username and password. Online Data reduces your internal data handling and puts up-to-date information on your desktop with virtually no effort.

Business Functions with Online Data  

  1. Online DataVirtual Visit to the Pole. Inspection information, pole condition, maintenance records, and multiple, linked digital images on your desktop, no need to make costly pre-maintenance field visits to the pole.
  2. Graphical Display of Query Results. Easily visualize graphical trends in our outside-plant information. Organize maintenance schedules better and determine districts or circuits in your service area that need immediate attention.
  3. Perform Complex Queries/Filters. Data mine your infrastructure data to practically any level using either pre-defined or user defined queries and filters. Ex: How many restorable class 2 poles are there that are 40-50 years old in district A on circuit C123 or B234 that don't have a transformer attached but does have joint use attachments?
  4. Create Field Reports. Create customized reports that can be taken to the field enabling your field personnel to see the location of the structure and have the necessary inspection and survey information to easier find the structure and perform the work.
  5. Inspection and Maintenance Planning. Perform queries on historical inspection and maintenance records to better plan and schedule your upcoming inspection and maintenance program. Having easy access to what work has been accomplished, enables better planning of the overall inspection/maintenance cycle.
  6. Create Plots of Work to be Performed. Create any size plots from A to E-size with your structures highlighted that need work performed. Based on any query/filter result, the list of structures can be highlighted and plotted, giving your field personnel an overview of the work locations that need to be visited.
  7. Mark Maintenance as Completed. Once work has been performed, mark the maintenance item or replaced pole as completed. Give additional notes on when, how, and by who the work was performed. Prioritize the maintenance the schedule based on highest priority work to be performed.
  8. View Uploaded Reports. View, print, or save the standard Osmose pre-generated, uploaded reports. Search for year-to-date summary reports, detail pole inspection reports, or invoices based various search criteria such as week-ending date, invoice number, or report name. Highlight the structures on the map associated with a particular invoice in order to efficiently approve invoices.
  9. Export Data - Ability to export information within Online Data into an AccessDB/ESRI Geodatabase format permits the transfer of this inspection/maintenance data into other systems such as a GIS. User has the ability to export a complete set of records or a partial set based on any user defined query.

Online Data System Requirement and Technical Platform:

  1. Online Data can be viewed in the most popular web browsers including Internet Explorer 6.0 or later and Firefox 2.0 or later running on any operating system such as Windows 7, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Vista, or Linux.
  2. Recommended PC browsing requirements are at least 500 MB of RAM and connected to the internet with a line speed of 1.55 MB/second (a typical T1 line).
  3. Online Data uses ESRI ArcGIS Server 9.3 technology to support advanced data management, mapping, spatial analysis, image and mobile capabilities.
  4. The Online Data uses HTTPS with SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption for security of the data. Only valid logins are accepted.
